Two more candidates for governor, Democrat John Kitzhaber and Republican Allen Alley, have failed to vote in five of the last 13 elections.
Republican Chris Dudley, a former pro basketball player making his first political race, apologized last month for what he acknowledged was an embarrassing record of missing elections. As it turns out, Dudley is not alone.
After Dudley’s admission, The Oregonian checked the voting records of all the Republicans and Democrats running for governor in the May primary. How voters cast their ballots is private, but whether they vote is public record.
Alley, a high-tech entrepreneur who became involved in politics in the past few years, has missed 22 of 42 elections stretching back to 1994, according to the Clackamas County clerk. He missed five of the most recent 13. Click to read more

MEDFORD — Buoyed by recent gains for Republicans in special elections across the nation, Oregon’s three GOP governor hopefuls stopped by Medford on Saturday to speak before an energized crowd at the Red Lion Hotel.
The GOP’s annual Lincoln Day Dinner marked the first time the three candidates have sat in the same room to make their case before Oregon voters.
Candidates Allen Alley, Chris Dudley and John Lim mingled with local Republicans in the hours before the dinner.
A hot topic at many tables was the recent passing of Measures 66 and 67, which will raise taxes on corporations and households making more than $250,000 per year to help balance the state’s budget. Click to read more
Gresham, OR – Gubernatorial candidate John Lim returned Sunday night from a statewide trip that included Hood River, Dalles, Enterprise, Baker City, Eugene, Roseburg, and Medford. John Lim has always been known for his tireless efforts in a campaign.
“I am always impressed with the good people I meet when I travel across the state,” said Lim, “The support for my candidacy coming from the grassroots is unlike any campaign I have ever seen.”
John Lim is going across the state to rally like-minded Oregonians who believe that an entrepreneurial spirit is what is needed in Salem. The feeling is Oregon needs somebody who knows how to create jobs, prioritize education, and will abide by the self-starter culture that shaped the history of Oregon. Each event, such as speaking at the Lincoln Day Dinner in Medford, is mobilizing more and more people who are seeing John Lim as the change we need.
“The best thing about my statewide travel is seeing how motivated people are to volunteer for my campaign,” Lim said, “I believe we have a good team that will lead to a GOP victory – that is my prediction.”
