  1. REDUCE GOVERNMENT SPENDING: We simply cannot have inflated budgets and continued unfunded liabilities. I will introduce budgets that provide basic services while implementing performance audits. In addition, I will introduce for referral a constitutional spending limit which will stipulate that State spending shall not increase at a rate greater than the growth of the State’s population and inflation except in cases of State emergencies.
  2. PROVIDE A BUSINESS FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENT: I want to be the top, #1 salesman for the State of Oregon. My pledge is to revive Oregon’s economy. I will do this by: supporting small business, bringing venture capital into our State, encourage exports, utilize our natural resources, and spur tourism. We must also cut the myriad jobs killing taxes and regulations on Oregon businesses. My legacy will be known as the Governor of Jobs.
  3. INNOVATE IN EDUCATION: According to U.S. Department of Education standards, which Oregon will adopt within a year, Oregon graduation rate is a mere 68%. We need to quit throwing money at programs that do not work for our children. However, education funding should be top priority. I strongly believe we should give more power to parents, teachers, and local school boards. I also support home school, private schools, and charter schools.
  4. PUBLIC SAFETY: I will dedicate 1% of general fund towards drug prevention, rehabilitation, and enforcement. Since drugs contribute to most crimes, I want to attack the problem at the source.
  5. MEASURES 66 & 67: I will work to sunset Measures 66 & 67 by December 31, 2011, because this is not a fair tax. The passage of these Measures is driving businesses out of State and increasing unemployment.
  6. BRIDGE THE URBAN/RURAL DIVIDE: Eastern and Southern Oregon tend to have much higher unemployment rates. Some cities are dying. I am going to place branch offices in Central and Southern Oregon so that we are no longer divided, but one Oregon. I will do this without increasing the Governor’s budget.
  7. SUPPORT TRADITIONAL VALUES: I believe marriage is between a man and a woman, and I believe life begins at conception. I will support a ban on State tax funded abortions.
  8. FIGHT FOR STATES’ RIGHTS: Upholding the U.S. and Oregon Constitutions is what I plan to do by standing up to unconstitutional federal mandates regarding public option health care and 2nd Amendment rights.
  9. BRING COMMON SENSE TO PERS: The way PERS has been managed has not been fair to taxpayers. I propose a special commission on PERS that will include all stakeholders: private citizens, labor, and finance experts. I will advocate for fair and sustainable long-term solutions.,
  10. PROTECT PROPERTY RIGHTS: I support private landowners from seizure of their land by the government for purposes of transferring that property to developers.
  11. TORT REFORM: Current health care costs are breaking the backs of citizens with double digit inflation every year. I will work towards meaningful tort reform solutions so employers and citizens can continue to provide health care to their loved ones.
  12. IMMIGRATION: The United States is a country of immigrants. I came to America legally, and I have always been a contributing member of society. Everyone should do just as I did. I believe our State government has a role and responsibility to reform our immigration system in order to cut costs to society and be fair to all people who obey the current laws.
